Old Town's Notable Trees Tour

  • Introduction: Enhance appreciation of the urban forest in Longmont, including its history and future, and connect to the interplay between it and us.

Residents are invited bring a bike and join City of Longmont Forestry staff on Friday, October 6, to tour some of Longmont’s most notable trees. Forestry staff will guide participants to various species of notable trees in Old Town Longmont to observe and discuss what makes them special – be it size, history or other unique features. Stops will include Roosevelt Park, Thompson Park and Collyer Park. Along the tour, staff will also share urban tree care best practices as well as information on the pest threatening all ash trees, Emerald Ash Borer. The intent of the tour is to enhance community appreciation of the urban forest in Longmont, including its history and future, and connect residents to the interplay between it and them.

  • This is a tour by bicycle, so all participants should bring theirs to travel between stops (or check one out via Zagster Bike Share). Bicycle helmets are also required. Total mileage traveled will not exceed three miles, so riders of all abilities and ages are welcome.
  • Participants should gather at the Longmont Senior Center (910 Longs Peak Avenue) at 12:15 p.m.
  • The tour will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. and is anticipated to last two hours.
