The History of #metoo

Come hear Dr. Catlyn Keenan discuss the #metoo movment.

  • This program will provide historical context for #metoo, from its genesis in 2006 to the surge of activity beginning in 2017.
  • The presentation will examine the major figures involved on multiple sides of the movement, the gains that have been made, and the initiatives identified as most important.
  • Please note: this presentation includes frank conversations about sexualized violence.
  • Dr. Catlyn Keenan teaches philosophy, religious studies, and women and gender studies at Front Range Community College, where she has been employed since 2001. An avowed intersectional feminist, Dr. Keenan promotes equality and dignity for all people while recognizing that tearing down systems of privilege and oppression for the benefit of all is difficult work that requires people from diverse backgrounds to establish shared lines of communication. She specializes in gender and sexualities studies, religion and violence, and religion in popular culture.
