Longmont Recreation Offers Exclusive Workout Hours for Adults 55+

Post Date:06/18/2020 4:00 PM

This week, Longmont Recreation’s St. Vrain Memorial Building weight room at Roosevelt Park will open to older adults ages 55 and up on a reservation-only basis. The phased reopening of Longmont Recreation facilities follows the Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) guidelines. As with other facilities, patrons will be asked to maintain social distance, refrain from gathering, and to wear a face covering.

"We want to make sure older adults in our community can participate and stay fit in a way that makes sense and that follows the safety protocols outlined by Boulder County Public Health,” says Ben Wagner, Memorial Building Supervisor. Early in the pandemic, many critical businesses such as grocery stores introduced senior-only hours as a way to mitigate transmission of the virus to this highly affected demographic. Longmont Recreation recognizes this community need extends to wellness and fitness opportunities, as well.

Active Older Adult Workout Details:

  • The St. Vrain Memorial Building weight room will open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am to 11am for adults ages 55 and older.

  • Workout time slots are available by reservation only.

  • There are two spots available each half hour for a maximum of four people in the weight room at any time.

  • Recreation passes, SilverSneakers® or Renew Active passes, or drop-in rate payments are accepted.

  • Reserve and pay for your scheduled time online in advance by visiting or by calling the Memorial Building front desk at 303-651-8404.

  • The St. Vrain Memorial Building will remain closed to the general public, serving only older adults with reservations and individuals enrolled in Longmont Summer Child Care. The gymnasium, fitness class area, and locker rooms will remain closed.

For all reopening Recreation facilities:

  • Please stay home if you are experiencing symptoms associated with the coronavirus or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

  • Please wear a face covering whenever possible and when not actively exercising.

  • Patrons are expected to maintain 6-foot social distancing from others.

  • Do not arrive early or linger at the end of your reservation. Please arrive on time or wait in your car until just before your reservation begins.

  • Restrooms will be available, but locker rooms and showers will not.

  • Storage lockers will not be available; please arrive at the facility workout-ready.

  • Bring your own water bottle; water fountains will be closed.

  • Weight rooms will be cleaned frequently, but please wipe down equipment before and after use.
