Youth Mental Health First Aid in Longmont As Part of Lady Gaga's Channel Kindness Tour

Post Date:12/07/2017 3:57 PM

Lady Gaga wants you to take Youth Mental Health First Aid and so do we!

Take a class on Monday, December 11 from 8am-5pm and learn how you can help a young person experiencing a mental health crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed for adults who regularly interact with young people (ages 12-18). The course introduces the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents and builds an understanding of the importance of early intervention. Participants learn to support a youth developing signs and symptoms of a mental illness or in an emotional crisis by applying a core five-step action plan.

Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation is spreading kindness with Mental Health First Aid. Together their goal is to train 150,000 more people in Mental Health First Aid by the end of the year by holding a course along every U.S. stop on Lady Gaga’s Joanne World Tour. The tour stops in Denver on December 12 and Supporting Action for Mental Health is excited to be a part of this effort to train people in Longmont in Mental Health First Aid.

Thanks to the generous support of The Colorado Health Foundation, we are able to offer this class (valued at $50 in Colorado) at no charge as part of the Supporting Action for Mental Health program with the City of Longmont, Mental Health Partners, and Longmont United Hospital.
