Erasing the Stigma of Mental Illness
Longmont community members are invited to attend a free presentation by Dr. Patrick Corrigan, a leading researcher on mental health stigma reduction. The presentation will be on Monday, February 5 from 7pm to 9 pm at Longmont United Hospital. Participants who attend will walk away with a better understanding of mental health stigma and the benefits and consequences of stigma change programs. Dr. Corrigan's research has focused, in particular, on the impact of mental health education versus contact with someone disclosing lived experience of mental illness.
Patrick Corrigan is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Currently, he is principal investigator of the National Consortium for Stigma and Empowerment (NCSE). Corrigan has authored or edited fifteen books, most recently, The Stigma of Disease and Disability.
Registration is not required for this event. Spanish language interpretation will be provided.
