Rocky Mountain Ukulele Orchestra to Teach Beginners to Play the Ukulele

New Library program introduces the fun and ease of the ukulele

Post Date:04/06/2018

Pick up a ukulele and learn to strum a tune at this fun workshop for teens and adults.

Grab your ukulele or borrow one of ours and come “rawk” your way into loving how versatile the ukulele can be in making music and making you happy. Teachers from the Rocky Mountain Ukulele Orchestra will teach beginners how to play from standard sheet music, ukulele tablature, and chord charts in this special Ukulele Workshop for Beginners at the Library on Saturday, May 5, from 3 to 4:30 pm. Students will learn to play melodically, harmonize, and might be swept away and start singing and dancing too!  The teachers will also offer tips for buying, tuning, and maintaining your ukulele and share other community resources to grow that inner rock star. Need some inspiration in the meantime? Enjoy this video of Israel "Iz" Kamakawiwo'ole performing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”  Register online.
