Learn about the Magic Sugar Beet of Longmont!

Local student debuts new picture book created as part of high school capstone project

Post Date:04/02/2018 1:47 pm

Silver Creek Capstone Project Author Emma Lilly will present her picture book.

The humble sugar beet has a long and storied history in Longmont, responsible for much of the City’s early growth. Silver Creek High School student, Emma Lilly, has turned that history into an entertaining and engaging new picture book for children. The Magic Sugar Beet: Exploring the History of the Longmont Sugar Beet Factory is part of Ms. Lilly’s capstone project, a requirement of her participation in Silver Creek’s Leadership Academy.  She’s debuting her book at the Library during two storytime sessions, 10:15 and 11 am, on Wednesday, April 25.  Ms. Lilly will read her book, followed by crafts, refreshments, and a book signing. No registration is required for this event. Head to the Library and support this young author/illustrator!

The Friends of the Longmont Library generously support library programs and services.
