If you’re looking for way to support the Longmont Public Library, opportunity just came knocking. The Library Board, a volunteer City board that advises the City Council on Library policies and priorities, has a vacancy. The five-member board is comprised of registered voters who have resided within the city limits of Longmont for at least a year. No prior board or library experience is necessary. The application process includes completion of an application online or downloaded and delivered to the City Clerk’s office, a brief interview, and an official appointment by the City Council. The Library Board meets once per month, on the fourth Monday of the month, from 7 to 9 pm. In addition to their official duties advising the City Council, Library Board members rotate monitoring and restocking the two Little Free Libraries in Affolter and Rothrock Dell Parks to encourage literacy and reading throughout the city.
So, if you’re a Library fan and want to insure that your Library remains a vital, well-funded resource for our community, please consider applying to serve on the Library Board.
