Kick off the Holidays in Downtown Longmont
At 6:30 pm on Friday, November 23, bring your friends and family to the 6th Avenue Plaza on Main Street to celebrate holiday traditions from around the world, then light the tree. This free event will also feature sing-alongs, crafts, goody bags, and Santa. Then, on Saturday, November 24, return downtown for Small Business Saturday with ice carving at St. Stephen’s Plaza, holiday characters and prize drawings. For more information visit

Holiday Parade Application Deadline is Monday
Monday, November 26, is the last day to submit your application for the Longmont Lights “Jingle Bell Rock” Holiday Parade down Main Street on December 8. Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your organization in lights! All parade entries are eligible for prizes. For contest judging criteria and registration information, visit or stop by the Memorial Building at 700 Longs Peak Avenue.

Enjoy Colorado’s Largest Holiday Home Tour
You’re invited to the Gift of Home Tour, a benefit for Longmont Meals on Wheels, November 29 through December 1. This is a self-guided tour of three beautifully decorated homes with decorations available for purchase. November 29 VIP tickets are $45 and include dinner at one of four local restaurants. General admission for November 30 and December 1 is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. For information and to purchase tickets, visit or the Longmont Senior Center at 910 Longs Peak Avenue.  

Visit Santa at the Callahan Holiday Open House 
Take a tour, enjoy holiday decorations, and visit with Santa from 3 to 7 pm on Friday, November 30, at the historic Callahan House and Garden at 312 Terry Street. Parents, bring a camera to capture the memories. Admission is free and the public is welcome. For more information about the Callahan House, including rental options for weddings, special events and parties, call 303-776-5191 or visit The line for Santa ends at 6:30 pm.

Anthology Party and Holiday Harps
On Saturday, December 1, take a break from holiday chores to celebrate writing and music at the Library, 409 4th Avenue. Start with the 2018 You Belong Anthology Release Party from 10 am to noon where anthology contributors will read short passages from the book and discuss their artwork. Then head upstairs at 1 pm for some beautiful holiday harp music courtesy of Glenda Grimmer of the Colorado Celtic Harp Society. Find more information at No registration is needed for either event. 

Homework Help Returns to the Library
Your children have homework, and your library has help! Free drop-in tutoring with trained, experienced tutors has returned. From 5:30 to 7:30 pm every Wednesday when school is in session, get one-on-one help in math, science, writing, and reading at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue. Students in kindergarten through 12th grade are welcome, and no registration is required. 

Longmont Museum Holiday Showcase
At 7 pm on Saturday, December 15, and 4 pm on Sunday, December 16, the Longmont Museum’s holiday tradition continues at 400 Quail Road with songs of the season and holiday cheer featuring Longmont’s Centennial State Ballet “Nutcracker” excerpts and much more! Special Santa reception with cookies and hot chocolate at 3 pm on Saturday before the matinee concert. General admission is $20, $15 for students and seniors, and $12 for Museum members. Keep Up with the Main Street Corridor Plan
The City has kicked off the Main Street Corridor Plan for the five-mile corridor along Main Street from Highway 66 on the north to Plateau Road on the south. This plan will look at the corridor in terms of land use, transportation, market needs, and opportunities for improvements. For more information, check the project web page at
