Coffee with Council
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, May 18, at the Firehouse Art Center, 667 4th Avenue. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Council Members Finley and Rodriguez are scheduled to attend. Landfill Drop Day
Longmont residents can take one level pickup load FREE of charge to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Road 5 in Erie from 7 am to 2 pm on Saturday, May 18. Loads must be covered and secured for transport; oversized loads and second loads will be billed accordingly. Tuesdays at Sandstone Ranch
Guests of all ages can drop in between 9 am and noon on Tuesdays, May 21 through August 27, at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive, to learn about Sandstone and the history, geology, nature, and wildlife of the area. Free Legal Clinic
A free walk-in Legal Clinic will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, May 28, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. You can speak to attorneys at no charge about immigration law, criminal law, family law, collections, bankruptcy, employment law, fair housing, landlord/tenant law, consumer issues,personal injury, probate, and Social Security. Final Week to See “Ansel Adams: Early Works”
Ansel Adams was a giant of landscape photography. The exhibition “Ansel Adams: Early Works” at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road, focuses on the artist’s masterful small prints from the 1920s into the 1950s. It also features vintage cameras and equipment of the type Adams used to create his remarkable photographs. This exhibit closes on May 26. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for students/seniors, and free for members and children 3 and younger. For more information visit LongmontColorado.gov/museum.
Downtown Concerts Begin May 31
Love dancing in the street to live outdoor music? Head downtown to 4th Avenue at Kimbark Street for the free Friday night Downtown Summer Concerts. Mark your calendar for 6 to 9:30 pm every Friday from May 31 – with local favorite Face Vocal Band – through June 28, as well as July 26. Centennial Pool is Open!
Centennial Pool at 1201 Alpine Street is open! The entire pool is now accessible, but diving boards will not be installed until late May/early June. Visit longmontcolorado.gov/swim or call 303-651-8406 for schedules and daily hours.
Summer is SplashTime
Enjoy fun in the sun at Longmont’s parks and outdoor swimming pools. Sunset Pool, 1900 Longs Peak Avenue, opens with pre-summer hours on Friday, May 24. Sunset features six lap lanes, a large wading area, three diving boards, and two fast and fun waterslides. Kanemoto Activity Pool, 1151 S. Pratt Parkway, and Roosevelt Activity Pool, 903 8th Avenue, open Friday, May 31. Activity pools are for ages 10 and younger. Splash pads at Stephen Day Park, 1340 Deerwood Drive, and Sandstone Ranch Park, 3001 E. Highway 119, will be turned on Saturday, May 25, and are open 8 am to 8 pm daily.
Most City Facilities Closed Next Monday
Longmont city government observes the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 27. Most City facilities will be CLOSED. The Longmont Recreation Center will be open from 10 am to 4 pm, and Sunset Pool will be open from 10 am to 5 pm. The Longmont Public Library and Centennial Pool will be closed May 25-27. Trash, recycling and composting will be collected one day later than normal during the week.
