Bike Lane Trial Project feedback survey closed June 30
The last day for bicyclists and motorists to submit feedback for the City of Longmont’s Bike Lane Trial Project was Sunday, June 30
Over the past year, the project offered travelers the opportunity to try out three specific types of on-street bicycle facilities through the project:
- shared lane markings (or “sharrows”) on South Bowen Street between Iowa Avenue and South Pratt Parkway
- on-street buffered bike lanes on South Pratt Parkway between Ken Pratt Boulevard and Pike Road
- separated bicycle lanes on westbound Pike Road between South Sunset Street and South Hover Street
Through routine re-striping work, these new bicycle facilities were created on existing streets, and travelers were asked to try out the segments and offer input online. In addition to traveler feedback, the trial project sought input from City crews during routine maintenance operations such as street sweeping and snow removal.
Comments received through the surveys will be compiled and summarized by Longmont Senior Civil Engineer Micah Zogorski, who serves as project manager for the Bike Lane Trial Project. Those findings will be provided later this year to the City’s Transportation Advisory Board and, ultimately, to City Council.
Improving and expanding Longmont’s bicycle network is an important and ongoing effort guided by the City’s Envision Longmont Multimodal & Comprehensive Plan and supporting Enhanced Multi-use Corridor Plan.
