Celebrating Many More Tomorrows
Join us from 11 am to 8 pm on Saturday, September 14, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road, for a Festival of Mental Wellness featuring talks from mental health experts, musicians, athletes, and artists. Enjoy a Mental Wellness Toolbox Scavenger Hunt where participants of all ages will walk away with tools they can use – and prizes! Show Your Colors For Public Power Week
Community-owned electricity from Longmont Power & Communications has helped make Longmont a more colorful place for over 100 years. Now you and your family can get out your crayons to help celebrate that – and get a chance to win a $50 downtown gift card – in LPC’s coloring contest for Public Power Week (October 6-12). Just download a coloring sheet from PowerWeek. Then color it in, finish the sentence “I love LPC’s electricity because …”, and send it to us. All entries must be received by October 12. Learn Mindfulness and Meditation Techniques
The Longmont Public Library, the Meditation Place, and Prairie Mountain Zen Center in Longmont are teaming up to offer programs that promote mindfulness and meditation techniques and practices to children and teens of all ages. All of the Library’s regularly scheduled storytimes the week of September 16 will feature mindfulness- and meditation-themed stories guided by staff from the Meditation Place. From 1 to 2 pm on Saturday, September 21, Marcia Walker from the Prairie Mountain Zen Center will present a program for 6th through 12th graders, including breathing practices, mindfulness meditation, and yoga poses. Free Guided Bird Walk at Sandstone Ranch
Local birder Carl Starace will guide you around the Sandstone Ranch loop trail at 8:30 am on Tuesday, September 17, to look for many of the bird species that call Sandstone home. The walk begins at the covered picnic shelter at the southeast corner of the soccer fields at Sandstone Ranch, 3001 Sandstone Drive. No registration is required, and participants should bring binoculars and dress for the weather. Visit for upcoming events at the Visitors Center. 

Callahan House & Garden Open House
The historic Callahan House & Garden at 312 Terry Street will host a free Open House with tours from 4 to 8 pm on Saturday, September 21, as part of Downtown Longmont’s ArtWalk. Learn How to Ride RTD 
The City of Longmont is sponsoring a free “How to Ride RTD” workshop from 6:30 to 8 pm on Tuesday, October 1, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. Staff from the City, Commuting Solutions, and RTD will answer your questions including how to locate a stop; how to read a schedule; how to select the best transit option; fares and passes; specialty rides such as SkyRide to DIA; Local, Limited, Regional and Express Bus services; FlexRide; and how to access RTD transit by bicycle. No registration required.

In late September and early October, as part of the development of the Just Transition Plan, Longmont’s Sustainability Program will host “Environment and Us” workshops on how our environmental decisions affect our community in different ways.
