Many City of Longmont Programs Available Online

Post Date:04/08/2020 11:15 AM

Although City of Longmont buildings are closed, many programs and activities continue online.

Keep your creative juices flowing with arts and crafts fun for all ages. Young children can follow along with the Longmont Museum’s Miss Leigh at Discovery Days@Home to create treasures from materials you probably have around the house. The Longmont Youth Center presents fun art projects for children and teens, and even adults can make art and enjoy music and lively conversation with the Museum’s Thursday Nights@Home Art & Sip classes.

You can’t visit museums and cultural institutions in person, but you can online. The Longmont Museum offers 360o virtual tours of its current and previous exhibits, while the Longmont Library provides links to museum tours from around the world. Visit the Smithsonian Institution’s specialized galleries, explore centuries of objects at the British Museum, even take a tour of the quirky Winchester House in California, and more. Interested in history closer to home? Check out the Museum’s online collection of historic photos, and see Longmont grow from a dusty prairie dream to the dynamic city it is today.

When it’s time to move around after traveling the virtual world, get some exercise with Recreation Services. City instructors have taken many of their classes online. Choose from aerobics, barre, yoga, tai chi, flexibility, Tabata, exercises for seniors, and many more for all ages and skill levels. It’s a great way to try a new routine in the privacy of your home before you take it to the gym.

And there’s no better time to settle down with a good book or magazine. Visit the Library to download eBooks, audio books, and eMagazines; join an online book group; and widen your literary horizons with book suggestions crafted just for you. Even our youngest friends can enjoy reading with online story times in English and Spanish.

Whether you’d like to challenge yourself by learning something new, visit places you’ve only dreamed of, or just take a break from the news of the day, you’ll find a place for you and your family online at the City of Longmont.
