The Board of Adjustment consists of five regular members and two alternate members who are appointed to serve three year terms.  The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial board when reviewing applications under the City's land development code. Concurring votes from four board members are required to approve any matter being considered by the board.

The board's roles and responsibilities include:

  • Requests for variances from standards for building setbacks, fences and signs when an application is not subject to review by the Planning & Zoning Commission or City Council under Chapter 15.02;
  • Requests for enlargement of nonconforming structures subject to Chapter 15.08.
