The Water Board consists of five (5) members appointed to serve five (5) year terms.  A member of the City Council  serves in an ex-officio capacity to coordinate Water Board action with City Council actions. 

The purpose of the Water Board is to advise the City Council in its raw water matters relating to the provision of a stable, sufficient, and suitable supply of water for the community and its residents. The Board's primary functions and duties include:

  • adopting, revising, and continually updating a long range plan for development of an adequate raw water supply and a policy pertaining to raw water requirements for annexation, subdivisions, and re-plats;
  • developing procedures for the transfer of water rights attached to land being annexed to the City of Longmont, subdivided, or re-platted;
  • reviewing all annexations, subdivisions, and re-plats and recommending to the City Council as to the adequacy of the water rights being transferred;
  • reviewing and making appropriate recommendations to the City Council on all requests for water service to outside service area and for outside City water taps;
  • making recommendations to City Council as to the uses, purchase or sale of any water rights; and
  • reviewing all matters, including pollution, concerning the City's raw water supply.

Meeting Time and Place

  • Third Monday of each month at 3 pm (subject to change) 
  • City of Longmont Service Center located at 1100 S. Sherman Street (Water Board will have a remote VIRTUAL meeting for June 15, 2020.)

Public Can Participate Live During Virtual Water Board Meetings

In order to protect residents, staff, and advisory board members from COVID-19, Longmont residents are urged to provide public comment from the comfort and safety of their homes by watching the meeting via livestream (link below) and by calling in on a phone number to provide public comment when prompted to do so during the meeting.

The Water Board will hold their regularly scheduled meeting at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2020, via remote virtual meeting. Comments are limited to three minutes per person. Information will be displayed and announced during the live meeting instructing the public on how to call in for public comment and when to do so.

The June Water Board meeting will be live-streamed and can be viewed on the City’s YouTube channel.
