Contractor licenses expire each year. Each contracting firm should receive an email warning the company of the approaching expiration date. All licenses that are expired will be forced to apply for a brand new license.
To complete the renewal process please follow the following steps:
- Step 1: If you have already taken our 2019 Code Renewal Exam you will not need to do this again this year. It is available for those contractors still needing to complete it this year to renew. If Applicable please complete the 2019 Building Code Renewal Exam and download the certificate provided after achieving a score of 70%. (Class D and E licenses do not need to take an exam)
Class A Test
Class B Test
Class C Test
Class M Test
- Step 2: Register for an account on Accela Citizen Access (ACA)* (ACA User Guide)
- Step 3: Verify that your license is listed on your online account by clicking on the Licenses tab after signing into ACA.
If your license is not listed please email Building.Inspection@LongmontColorado.gov with your ACA account email and the number of the license you want to be listed in that account.
- Step 4: Complete the renewal application on ACA and provide the necessary documents (Contractor Renewal Guide)
In accordance with Ordinance 16.48.060, all qualified individuals for the Class A, B, C, and Mechanical licenses need to complete the renewal exam prior to license renewal. These renewal exams are only required at each new code rotation cycle, generally every three years. Upon receipt of the application and completion of the renewal exam (if/when applicable), we will review the status of the contractor's insurance certificates and any fees required before approving.
Accela Citizen Access (ACA) - The City of Longmont uses Accela Citizens Access (ACA) for online licensing, permitting, and inspections. The Accela system is created and produced by Accela. The City of Longmont maintains and customizes the program for public use.
The City of Longmont also changed the renewal cycle for contractor licenses. Instead of all licenses expiring on June 30th, all licenses will expire a year from the issued date. To assist with this change the City of Longmont will match the amount of months renewed before the expiration date. For example:
License A is renewed in May 2019 and will expire August 2020. For renewing 2 months early License A received 1 year + 2 months for this renewal.
