Efforts to Address Homlessness
The City of Longmont helped implement a countywide system to address adult homelessness in partnership with other local governments and service providers. Read the Homeless Solutions for Boulder County's 2018 Annual Report for a summary of the individuals served and progress made to secure additional housing-related and service resources.
Take One Step
The Take One Step community engagement project was sparked by a January 2018 City Line article, which introduced the work being done to address homelessness throughout Boulder County. Longmont community members were encouraged to become part of the solution and ìtake one stepî toward ending homelessness in Longmont by:
- Recognizing individuals experiencing homelessness;
- Volunteering and/or donating money or supplies to nonprofits addressing homelessness;
- Contacting services for individuals in need.
The Home Steady program offers case management and short-term financial assistance to Longmont residents who are either struggling to retain housing or are at-risk of losing housing. In 2018, the Home Steady program served 44 households, the majority of which were dealing with unforeseen medical expenses. Learn more about Home Steady.
