Using our Research Services

With just your library card, you can access dozens of premium information services that aren't available for free any place but libraries. This is because premium services generally require a subscription, but the Library subscribes, so you don't have to!

There is a tremendous amount of information on the web, but not all of it is free or findable with a regular search engine like Google or Bing.  Also, some web content is poorly researched, biased, or incomplete.  Our premium sites offer information that is typically more reliable than that found by simply using a search engine.

Many of our online services require that you input your library card number in order to gain access, and two of our databases are only available from within the Library. Some of these online information sources are not accessible without a Longmont library card. If you have a library card from another local library and cannot access an online information source, you will need to get a Longmont Public Library card.

These premium services are like the encyclopedias of old, but on steroids!  So, grab your library card and buckle in, because your brain is about to be inundated with the best, most credible, most reliable, and most peer-reviewed information available.  Have fun!
