The Twin Peaks Mall Area Urban Renewal planning process began in 2008 with a series of public meetings. The original Urban Renewal Plan was approved and adopted by the Longmont Urban Renewal Authority / City Council in July 2009. In 2012, in response to redevelopment opportunities, the Longmont Urban Renewal Authority is proposing an updated urban renewal plan to provide for and facilitate the eradication and prevention of the spread of conditions of blight, primarily through the adoption of tax increment financing (TIF) provisions and strengthened land acquisition measures authorized by the Colorado Urban Renewal law.
