CLASSES, EVENTS, REGISTRATION AND INSTRUCTION (no membership required). 


A waiver must be signed for participation in any class or special event.
Please print this two-page document out and bring completed form to the event.

INTRODUCTION TO HANDGUN SAFETY AND TRAINING - Co-ed class. Thinking of buying a handgun for the first time or do you just want to get back to the basics of handgun safety. If so, this course is for you. One-on-one instructor training provided by professional instructors from the Longmont Department of Public Safety. Eye protection and double-hearing protection is required. 10 students per class. For questions, please email or call (303)774-4589.

  • Class time is 6pm-9pm
  • Cost $30 for members, $35 for non-members
  • Must bring your own weapon (minimum of two magazines for semi-auto pistols recommended)
  • Bring 125 rounds of ammunition (no steel ammo)
  • Participants must be 18 years of age
  • Registration: Do not wait until the last minute to sign up. The department must have a minimum number of 5 registrants in order to hold this class.
  • Refunds: If the number of registrants is not reached per class, your registration fee will be refunded. If you cancel or fail to show up you will not be refunded.
  • Clothing: Closed toe shoes, socks, long pants or shorts, appropriate shirt / no low neckline
  • Classes utilize City of Longmont RecTrac. For assistance with Rec Trac please call (303) 651-8404.

 2018 Introduction to Handgun Safety and Training dates: (Fri) Aug 10, Oct 12, Dec 14

LADIES NIGHT - This event is held the last Friday of every month. This night is hosted by professional instructors from the Longmont Department of Public Safety. Spend the evening sharing tips and socializing with other women who enjoy the sport. This is open to members as well as non-members. Each session is focused on a different topic pertaining to women's safety and awareness. Eye protection and double-hearing protection is required. 20 students per class. CONCEALED CARRY COURSE.
This course is presented by professional instructors from Longmont Department of Public Safety. Learn how to safely store, carry and shoot firearms. This class will be a combination of classroom and practical exercise and is appropriate for the beginner to intermediate shooter. Gain knowledge and the skill to identify and handle aspects of the shooting sport, to include the fundamentals of marksmanship, reload drills, and malfunctions. Enhance your existing skills through professional and personalized instruction. This course exceeds state standards for concealed carry permit (CCW) requirements. Each participant will receive a certificate upon completion of this course. CCW permits must be obtained in the county in which you reside.

  • 8am - 5p.  4 hours classroom, 4 hours on the range (lunch from 12pm-1pm)
  • Cost $125
  • Must bring your own weapon (minimum of two magazines for semi-auto pistols recommended)
  • Bring 100 rounds of ammunition with your own weapon (no steel ammo).
  • Participants must be 18 years of age
  • Registration: Do not wait until the last minute to sign up. The department must have a minimum number of 5 registrants in order to hold this class.
  • Refunds: If the number of registrants is not reached per class, your registration fee will be refunded. If you cancel or fail to show up you will not be refunded.
  • Clothing: Closed toe shoes, socks, long pants or shorts, appropriate shirt / no low neckline
  • Classes utilize city of Longmont Rec Trac for registration

2018 class dates: July 28, Sept 29. No November class.

HUNTER SIGHT-IN / SEPTEMBER 1 - DECEMBER 1 (SUNDAY'S ONLY)
This public use activity at the firing range DOES NOT require a membership.

  • Sunday’s from 8 am until 5 pm.
  • This is a drop in program and does not require a reservation.
  • There is a $15 per gun charge.
  • You must be on the firing range prior to 4 pm to begin your sight-in.
  • Eye protection and double hearing protection required.
  • Must be nine years of age or older and accompanied by an adult to participate in hunter sight-in.
  • No limit to the number of rifles you may sight-in.
  • No steel ammo.
  • No muzzle loaders.
  • No 50 caliber or greater.
  • The sight-in distance will be 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards. Distances are dependent on shooters needs.
