The City of Longmont offers a wide variety of fitness classes and events. Prior to starting any type of fitness or conditioning program it is best to first check with your doctor. Participation on a regular basis is recommended for proper conditioning. Schedules may change monthly and not all classes are offered at all times. Download current fitness descriptions and yoga class descriptions/schedule.

Biking Classes

 Class-themed to emphasize biking as well swimming, running, body weight & core exercises. Themes change seasonally. Location- Centennial Pool

Boot Camp- Advanced. No choreography, high intensity interval sports conditioning, running, plyometrics,and calisthenics. Location-Longmont Recreation Center

Butts and Gutts - Intermediate. Lower body and core training. Location-Longmont Recreation Center

Cardio Kickboxing - Advanced. Kick boxing moves and other heart-pumping cardio exercises, incorporated with alternating periods of higher and lower levels of intensity. Location - Longmont Recreation Center

Cardio/Sculpt - Intermediate. A powerful cardio and sculpting class that has cardio components and uses combined muscular strength and endurance exercises. Location - Longmont Recreation Center and St. Vrain Memorial Building.

CORE DE FORCE- is a mixed martial arts inspired, non-contact, high energy, total body sculpting class. The no equipment workout consists of fight combinations, cardio spikes, and conditioning movements. Location- St. Vrain Memorial Building

Essential Barre- Do small, controlled, low impact movements at the ballet barre using
your own body weight as resistance to create toned muscles. Ideal for all fitness levels and easily modifiable.   Location - Longmont Recreation Center

Family Yoga- Let's cultivate focus, balance, inner peace work through breath & yoga poses with our children. Ages 6&up. Seasonal class: Sept-May. Location- Longmont Recreation Center.

FLEX-ability- Increase your flexibility by adding this stretching class to your fitness routine. (A) Location - Longmont Recreation Center

Indoor Cycling - All Levels. No impact, high intensity stationary bike workout. Instructor leads class with music over varying terrain. 45-minute class at the Longmont Recreation Center. Limited bikes available. Location -Longmont Recreation Center

NIA-Joyous barefoot CardioDance fusion that develops flexibility, agility, mobility, strength & stability. Creative self-expression & holistic dance. Location- Longmont Recreation Center and St Vrain Memorial Building

Pilyoga - All levels. A sculpting and stretching class using a combination of Yoga poses and Pilates core conditioning. Location - Longmont Recreation Center and St. Vrain Memorial Building

PiYo Live!- All levels.-Sweat, stretch, and strengthen in one low-impact, body-sculpting workout. PiYo LIVE cranks up the intensity and speed of traditional Pilates and yoga to help you shape sleek arms, flat abs, and a lifted butt—no equipment needed. Location - Longmont Recreation Center

Power of 3 - Beginner. The class starts with a cardio section, followed by a sculpting section and ends with a final stretch using relaxation techniques. It employs the three basic components of fitness while constantly evolving and changing to keep you motivated. Location - St. Vrain Memorial Building

Qi Gong- is the practice of circulating Chi-vital life force through your body using movement and breath. Promotes health and well being. Location - Longmont Recreation Center

Sculpt and Tone - A sculpting class for beginners to intermediate that keeps moving from one exercise to another. Location - Longmont Recreation Center

SilverSneakers® Cardio- Get Up and Go with an aerobics class for you-safe, heart-healthy and gentle on the joints. The workout includes easy to follow low impact movement, and upper-body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises designed to energize your active lifestyle. Location - Longmont Recreation Center

SilverSneakers® Circuit- Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers® ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching, and relaxation exercises. Location - Longmont Recreation Center; St. Vrain Memorial Building; Senior Center

SilverSneakers® Classic- Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and chair is used for seated and/or standing support. Location - Longmont Recreation Center; St. Vrain Memorial Building; Senior Center

SilverSneakers® Yoga- Yoga will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. Location - Longmont Recreation Center; Senior Center

SilverSneakers®Splash- Activate your aqua urge for variety! SilverSplash® offers lots of fun shallow-water moves to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required, and a special SilverSneakers® kickboard is used to develop strength, balance and coordination. Location - Longmont Recreation Center

Step - Intermediate. A low impact aerobic class with step choreography on a step platform. Interval format includes alternating steps and weights/sculpting. Location-Longmont Recreation Center

Tai Chi - Tai Chi combines fluid movements of the upper and lower body. The "24and 42 Form" of the Yang Style. Location - Longmont Recreation Center; St. Vrain Memorial Building

TRX $$ - Suspension Training bodyweight exercise develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. Location - Centennial Pool

Zumba® - The program combines Latin and international music with dance in an effort to make exercise fun. Aerobic interval training with a combination of rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba® classes are offered through licensed instructors only. Location - Longmont Recreation Center and St. Vrain Memorial Building

Zumba® Kids - Kids love to crank up the music, shake, wriggle and have a blast with their friends. For ages 4 to 10 years. Seasonal class: Sept-May. Location - Longmont Recreation Center

Zumba® Gold-  A Zumba® Class with less impact, no pivots and simpler choreography.  Perfect for the beginner, young at heart, or those needing a low impact workout but still want to enjoy the “party” atmosphere. Location: Longmont Recreation Center and St Vrain Memorial Building

Zumba® Step -Take lower body workouts and calorie burning to new heights with a gravity-defying blend of Zumba® routines and step aerobics. Location: St Vrain Memorial Building 

STRONG by Zumba® - combines high intensity interval training with the science of Synced Music Motivation. In every class, music and moves sync in a way that pushes you past your perceived limits, to reach your fitness goals faster. Location: Longmont Recreation Center and St Vrain Memorial Building

Water Fitness Class Descriptions - All water classes suitable for all fitness levels.

Aqua Circuit:  A warm water aerobics class with a variety of cardiovascular exercise and use of different equipment. Location - the Longmont Recreation Center 

Aqua Power- A high intensity, predominately shallow water, running and cardiovascular interval class designed to burn 500-700 calories in an hour and target buns,thighs and abs. Location - Longmont Recreation Center

Aqua Motion - A mild, no "bounce" class for stretching and toning muscles and improving cardiovascular conditioning, CORE stability and joint mobility. Performed using the current of the Lazy River and the warmer water for improved joint action. This is a great class if you have arthritis, joint limitations or replacements, or if you are pregnant. Location - Longmont Recreation Center

Aqua Zumba® - Join the pool party! Location: Centennial Pool and the Longmont Recreation Center

Deep H2O - A moderate intensity water aerobics class with no impact to the joints. Flotation belts are provided. Location - Longmont Recreation Center and Centennial Pool

Fluid Running: All the benefits of running on land, and more, without impact. A phenomenal full body workout in the water! $$

HydrO2ga® - Holistic therapeutic no-impact deep water exercise that is challenging, strengthening, toning, aerobic, relaxing and balancing for the emotional, physical and mental body. Need goggles and cap is recommended. Location - Centennial Pool

Masters Swimming - Improve your skills and stamina through intervals, drills and distance swimming. Recommended for adults who are comfortable swimming at least 1,000 yards non-stop. Location - Longmont Recreation Center and Centennial Pool

Beginning Masters Swimming - Not quite ready for Masters Swimming? Beginning Masters can get you there! While catering to your individual needs, you will receive stroke work plus a great workout. This program is recommended for adults who are comfortable swimming 200 yards non-stop. Location - Centennial Pool
