2018 International Code Update and Adoption
The International Codes are model codes developed by the International Code Council (ICC). The codes have been adopted for use as a base code standard by most jurisdictions in the United States. Approximately every three years, ICC publishes a new set of codes and the City of Longmont reviews and adopts the new codes by ordinance, with or without amendments, the year following publication.
The City of Longmont has adopted the 2018 International codes, effective January 21, 2019. Staff reviewed each code (International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Fire Code, International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fuel Gas Code, International Existing Building Code, International Energy Conservation Code, International Property Maintenance Code and International Pool and Spa Code) to determine if there were amendments to the code language that needed to be made before final adoption. For examples of amendments that have been made in the past, please visit the Building Codes web page.
Any plan submitted after January 21, 2019 will be reviewed under the adopted 2018 International Codes. If you have any questions about the code adoption process, please contact the Building Inspection division at (303) 651-8332 or firstname.lastname@example.org
