How does the Book a Librarian service work?

Patrons can book an appointment with a library professional using the online form below. For the most comprehensive help, please describe your question in as much detail as possible. Someone will contact you within three (3) week days to discuss your request and set up an appointment. In the meantime, for immediate assistance call the Adult Information Desk at 303-651-8472.

Who can use this service?

This service is available to individuals ages 18 and older, by appointment only

Where will the meeting take place and for how long?

Appointments are held on the second floor behind the Information Desk and are booked for up to 30 minutes.

Who will be helping me?

We look at your request and determine the best person on our staff to work with you based on expertise and availability. If you need assistance in Spanish please indicate that in the comment box on the form below.

What kind of help can I get when I Book a Librarian?

Librarians can help with all sorts of questions, including how to:

  • access and search the library catalog;
  • manage your library account;
  • use the Interlibrary Loan Service;
  • conduct research using our online and offline resources;
  • select your next great book;
  • conduct basic internet searches;
  • download electronic and/or audio books;
  • navigate and use the Library building (tour included!).

We cannot offer advice (e.g., medical, legal, investment) except to advise users of reputable sources of evaluative information. Also, we cannot offer help with completing tax forms or maintenance help with personal computers or mobile devices.

Do you offer help with job searches, resume assistance, and career support?

We are happy to show you how to use our career, job exploration, and resume building resources and help you explore a variety of job search and professional networking web sites, as well as local resources. We can also make referrals to free or low cost local organizations that focus on these topics. We can't fill out your job application for you, but we can help get you started.

Do you provide help with genealogy research?

We have a number of resources available at the Library and are happy to let you know about them to help you get started. More advanced genealogy questions should be directed to genealogy specialists. We also have a genealogy meetup where you can get assistance from volunteers at the Longmont Genealogical Society.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Please bring your device (laptop, kindle, smart phone) if you are needing assistance with electronic or audio book downloading. If you are needing assistance with your Kindle you will need an Amazon account and your Amazon log-in credentials. Don’t forget your library card!

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please call the Adult Information Desk at 303-651-8472 to cancel. To reschedule you will need to fill out the online form again and wait for someone to contact you.
